Northern Kentucky - Cincinnati, Ohio August 1, 2019 – Powernet has been selected by the Goering Center as one of 75 finalists for the Family & Private Business Awards. The family-owned technology company continues to leave a lasting impact on the community through its unique access to technology. Solutions such as Wi-Fi, voice systems and tablets have equipped non-profit organizations with the ability to engage and impact their communities through modern technology. In addition to non-profits, Powernet donated services to Lower Price Hill and Avondale in an effort to further erase the digital divide. Both of these communities received large scale public Wi-Fi networks that reach hundreds of low-income residents who can now complete essential everyday tasks such as paying bills, manage online banking, search and apply for jobs, complete schoolwork and further their education online through Wi-Fi for free. Giving residents access to the internet creates opportunities that otherwise wouldn’t be available to many members of the community. By working hand-in-hand with the community Powernet is creating a legacy known to create opportunities and change lives.
“We are thrilled to be honored as one of 75 Family & Private businesses as named by the Goering Center,” says Alli Stevens, CEO of Powernet. “Our team works hard throughout the year to find unique ways to give back to the community and build a positive lasting legacy for Powernet.”
As a semi-finalist, Powernet will be further evaluated by an independent panel of judges who will be considering the legacy, leadership and culture development that distinguishes Powernet from other Greater Cincinnati regional businesses.
The 2019 Goering Center Family & Private Business Award winners will be announced at the awards gala this fall at the JACK Cincinnati Casino on September 10, 2019. This annual recognition program, in its 20th year, honors Greater Cincinnati regional businesses that exemplify the best in family and private business practices. Each year nearly 500 businesses are nominated for these awards and from those nominees, 75 semi-finalists are selected.
Three awards will be presented in each of two divisions: family business and private business. Additionally, the 2019 Goering Center Hall of Fame winner and the Baldwin Volunteer of the Year will both be celebrated.
