Employee Spotlight: Neal Head

Describe what you do at Powernet:

My job title is SMB Solutions Lead, but primarily I manage the voice team in Cincinnati. I am the lead engineer and consultant for our Hosted IP PBX product, perform research and development for the voice team, and I act as a liaison between the sales, service management and engineering teams for SMB orders.

What has been your favorite project to work on at Powernet?

My favorite project isn't one specific project, but it is our entire MDU product. I love all of these projects because they involve every engineering department to work together to accomplish and I believe it takes the best of everything we do.

What's the best thing about your job?

The best thing about my job is the ability to learn something new every day because of the people that I work with. Everyone at Powernet has a genuine curiosity for new technology and there is always an interesting conversation happening.

What do you like to do when you're not working?

When I'm not working, I like playing video games with my (very geographically spread out) friends, hiking, or taking photos.

What are five words of advice for others in your profession?

Don't work yourself to death.

How would you describe Powernet's culture?

Powernet's culture is like a startup, even though it's been around since the early 90s. You can tell there is an experienced grizzled side to Powernet, but there is also a forward thinking and youthful ambition side as well. It's a good balance.
